OSKUI CARPETS
Transitional design, come to life: Hamburg-based designer Ali Oskui connects the Eastern and the Western world, not only in his award-winning carpets, but also in his biography. Born 1965 in the north Iranian city of Tabriz, one of the world’s oldest carpet-weaving centres, he started his career as a professional goldsmith, hand-engraving jewellery.
Since 1988, Oskui has called the north German city of Hamburg his home. This is where he designs and sells hand-knotted jewellery for residential floor s, translating traditional Persian patterns into a modern ornamental language. As a retailer and distributor of area rugs and carpets, he runs a prime-location store in the centre of Hamburg, advising and serving discerning customers.
Oskui has won several international awards for his carpet designs, amongst them the renowned Carpet Design Award.
A team of exceedingly proficient craftsmen together design carpets that are specifically using the Persian knot. These carpets are a perfect blend of 50% fine silk yarn along with handspun highland wool. The design elements of this magnificent rug are knotted in pure silk. This makes the sheen appear even more subtle and elegant. The Persimo carpets have a three-dimensional feel to them, thus, creating a statement in the room they are kept in. These carpets are a fantastic mix of old fibrecraft traditions with the modern design patterns. Created by Hamburg-based designer Ali Oskui, a carpet design award winner in the year 2014, these carpets are a true piece of art.
